Counselling for Depression

Depression is a term that is thrown around quite a bit these days, and with good reason. The World Health Organization estimates that over 4% of the global population is living with depression. Depression can occur alongside a variety of physical, mental, and emotional ailments. Not to mention that depression can present differently depending on your age, gender, and cultural background. Feelings of shame, low self-worth, fatigue, and suicidal ideation are just a few symptoms of depression that you may be experiencing.

Studies link depression to chronic inflammation from stress, nutrition and gut health, and even working consistent overnight shifts. All this to say that simply labelling depression as a “chemical imbalance,” may not be enough to reveal what is actually happening with your experience of depression - in comes counselling.

Its increased notoriety is matched by our gradual understanding of just how complex it actually is. Instead of dismissing your depression, in therapy we strive toward learning from your depression to determine what positive change can look like in your life.
